Must Know Band: Princeton

Princeton band 569x378 300x199 Must Know Band: Princeton

A while ago Camera Obscura released ‘My Maudlin Career’. After hearing the record I was pretty sure nothing else would be released this year that would compare to the bliss the album offered me. Soon after I learned a life lesson; bliss shows up when least expected, like when a wirey bald church man picks up and moves from his comfy lodgings in Salt Lake City, UT to the wide world of unknown in Denver, CO. Alas, Princeton have become a source of bliss, an unexpected one. Those are the best kinds, kind of like where we read in J.R.R. Tolkien’s classic ‘The Hobbit’ chapter 1 “An Unexpected Party” when Bilbo Baggins is caught quite off his guard by a visitation from 13 dwarves thereby starting his great journey. Princeton’s music is not at all music to listen to when you read this book, but it is music that is unexpectedly wonderful.

Download a great effing song in “Sadie and Andie”

Watch their video for “”Martina and Clive Krantz”, listen to the New Order-esque guitar ambiance and I think you will get it.

Bear considers himself a music lover. Not an afficionade. He is in love with almost every genre of music, but not so much Rap. He loves sad music imbued with nostalgia. He doesn't enjoy bands that sound good on album but somehow forget to play their instruments in a live setting. In fact seeing a band that sucks live makes him never want to listen to music again. He was born in a hick town, then proceeded to move around the country with wanderlust in his eyes. He now resides in the great rain of the North West with the love of his life.
