ofmontreal James Husband/ of Montreal News!

Greetings,
Time for an of Montreal / James Husband update!

Head on over to NPR’s “All Things Considered” (see 12/3 story ) for a new “Decade in Music” segment, “How Musicians Create,” that includes interviews with both of Montreal’s Kevin Barnes, and his brother, artist David Barnes. The two discuss the packaging concept behind the groundbreaking Skeletal Lamping Collection–a release of the band’s latest album in 11 different formats!

There’s been a good deal going on in of Montreal’s world, the last few weeks. Last month,  Kevin Barnes recently posted on Twitter that he and Jon Brion will be working together on the follow up to Skeletal Lamping, due out late 2010 via Polyvinyl.

And just this week, in an interview with UK paper The Guardian (see11/29  story) in which pop superstar Beyonce was named “Artist of the Decade,” she suggested that she’d like to work with of Montreal on a possible collaboration: “My sister [Solange] has put me on to bands like [indie group] Of Montreal and some other different types of artists. I would love to do something like that on my next album.” Shortly thereafter, Barnes told Paste (see 12/1 story), “I fell in love with Beyonce’s ‘Crazy in Love’ and, since then, I’ve always kept an ear out for what she releases,” Barnes said in a statement to Paste. “I wasn’t that familiar with her Destiny’s Child stuff, until Solange played me some of the deep cuts. I was truly blown away by the vocal arrangements / performances. I think most people don’t realize what an amazingly great singer Beyonce is. She is so much more than a pop star. There is a reason why she’s the most popular and beloved female vocalist of our time. I would be fully psyched to work with her.”  As Paste says, “your move, Beyonce. Lets’s do this.”

In related news, of Montreal’s James Husband is the guest host today on Aquarium Drunkard’s Sirius/XMU radio show (see 12/4 AD post ).

Bear considers himself a music lover. Not an afficionade. He is in love with almost every genre of music, but not so much Rap. He loves sad music imbued with nostalgia. He doesn't enjoy bands that sound good on album but somehow forget to play their instruments in a live setting. In fact seeing a band that sucks live makes him never want to listen to music again. He was born in a hick town, then proceeded to move around the country with wanderlust in his eyes. He now resides in the great rain of the North West with the love of his life.
