Sherwood Launches US Headlining Tour

Sherwood, purveyors of feel good California rock, will be hitting the road launching a U.S. headlining tour in support of its most recent effort QU. The tour kicks off February 17 in Los Angeles at the famed Roxy Theater.

A Beach Boys-inspired power pop band hailing from San Luis Obispo, California, Sherwood came together in 2002 while the band members were still students at the local university. Now signed to Myspace Records, they’ve released their debut Summer EP followed by two full length releases (Sing, But Keep Going in 2005 and 2007’s A Different Light).

QU, released October 2009, is the band’s third full length and is arguably Sherwood’s most mature and accessible yet, as its undeniable pop sensibilities showcase a band coming into its own and fully realizing its potential. Fans have noticed, as Sherwood’s MySpace page has logged an astounding 18 million plays, making it the third largest MySpace profile in the world.

Teaming up with producer Brad Wood ( Liz Phair, Smashing Pumpkins and Sunny Day Real Estate) in a rented Oakland apartment for nine months, the band amassed 85 songs that were eventually whittled down to 12 unabashed power pop songs that made the final cut.

Sherwood’s brand new music video for the song “You Are” will world premiere on MySpace Music on February 12. The video was directed by Long Beach hipster Matt Wignall who also produced music and videos for Cold War Kids.

Bear considers himself a music lover. Not an afficionade. He is in love with almost every genre of music, but not so much Rap. He loves sad music imbued with nostalgia. He doesn't enjoy bands that sound good on album but somehow forget to play their instruments in a live setting. In fact seeing a band that sucks live makes him never want to listen to music again. He was born in a hick town, then proceeded to move around the country with wanderlust in his eyes. He now resides in the great rain of the North West with the love of his life.
