So, I was supposed to have this review of the new album Caledonia by JT & the Clouds done several weeks ago, but I’ve been too busy listening to/enjoying the album to possibly write anything about it. But, here we go… and as my college Spanish teacher used to say, mejor tarde que nunca.
This is good old Chicago music. Caledonia deserves a good listen, re-listen and re-re-listen. A few of the stand-out tracks, in my mind, are “Funeral”, “Nobody Wants to be Alone Nobody Wants to Die”, “I Have Heard Words” and “Grow Your Flowers”. But, honestly I wouldn’t be sad if any of the songs on the album popped up on a random shuffle through my music. I would email my friends about this album, in fact, I already have.
The music is melancholy, joyful, nostalgic, eager and loads of soulful, all at the same time. Good rock n’ roll. Scratch that… VERY good rock n’ roll. I’d much rather listen to it than write about it. Definitely all silver lining here.
