We’ve lost this ball a bunch of times already, but with a little teamwork it always shows up. Our accuracy isn’t the greatest you see… (Apparently we’re all gonna get shown up by Jesse’s girlfriend in Chicago.)

Never thought we’d see our picture on a napkin dispenser!! There were about thirty of these peppered throughout the concert venue/cafeteria at Messiah College… and the chicken quesadilla was the bomb!!

MP3 Download Premiere: Coast Jumper ‘Windowsill’

Hailing from San Francisco, these 5 studly fellows are the North’s answer to SoCal’s Local Natives as they tread the tranquil waters that Beach House has perfected. Featuring elongated tones backing up echoing vocals, “Windowsill” is just a taste of the fog-influenced energy Coast Jumpers can surprise you with. Coast Jumper – “Windowsill” You can download their full 10-track album, Grand Opening, on their website: CoastJumper.com. They’ve also got a couple live dates in NorCal now through the end of [...]

MP3 Download Premiere: Mystery Pills ‘The Glass Traditions’

South Dakota (the Dakota below North Dakota) is currently known for that rock with presidents’ faces carved in it. Raj Dawson, aka Mystery Pills, may not be a president but he’s giving South Dakota a new claim to fame with his spin on lo-fi pop. This genre title is getting annoying but what makes Mystery Pills takes on this cliché label is mainly the cassette-quality vocals. With a Snow Patrol-like melodic guitar riff and pulsing beats, “The Glass Traditions” is easy [...]

[Interview] Abandoned Pools Signs to Tooth and Nail, Fixes Your Macbook

It’s about 8 in the morning. I have recently gotten out of bed and am still rubbing the sleep out of my eyes. The first sip of java has just hit my lips, my email is freshly opened, and I read, “Abandoned Pools Signs to Tooth and Nail Records Today.” Gulp. Rub. Rub. This came as strange news to me for several reasons. For one, I thought Abandoned Pools was long gone. The last I had heard they released a [...]

    Video: Ume – “Captive”

Hot damn. Ume?  Heard of them? Probably not. They’re a huge-sounding, little-known band from Austin on one of my favorite labels, Modern Outsider. ModOut is run by some good buddies of mine, Erin and Chip Adams. Yep, another husband-wife indie label team. Turns out Lujo is not an anomaly! Which only begs the question, how many husband-wife label teams are out there? Anyway.  I don’t know too much about this band, only the important stuff: that it’s lead by Lauren Larson [...]

Brian Lopez is making Tucson a new source for irresistible music.
