The Jealous Sound – ‘A Gentle Reminder’
What does music stand for if not passion and finding those bands that bring out the passion within us? The members in The Jealous Sound have, after 9 long years on hiatus, found the passion within themselves and turned it into a collection of songs that picks up where their debut album ‘Kill Them With Kindness’ left off. Each song discovers emotional high’s and lows fronted by the powerful vocal delivery of Blair Shehan. Indeed there can be nothing bad said about these songs, only great things can be uttered, as the songwriting is simple in nature and huge on delivery, allowing for smart drum fills, soaring guitars, and hear pounding bass, topped off by a recording that captures the band in epic form.
‘A Gentle Reminder’ is made of 10 songs that is not so much a reminder that the band has returned, but a testament of the profound musical genius the band is capable of crafting, no matter how many stories they have lived or years that have passed. In nearly 2 days of listening, this album has been listened to by my ears nearly 10 times. In that time it’s become nearly impossible to choose a favorite song, but I’ve found myself coming back to the title track, “A Gentle Reminder”, as it’s quiet-to-loud dynamic along with Blair’s near screams make me realize, once again, why we love music so much. There has been something missing from music but lucky for us the void has been filled by The Jealous Sound.
This January 31 you can pick up a copy of ‘A Gentle Reminder’ via Music is Subjective and Fontana Distribution.
