The Whigs Tour with The Hold Steady and MP3 Download

-
In support of their critically acclaimed new album, IN THE DARK, Athens, GA trio The Whigs will appear on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon next Tuesday, April 27th and premiere song “Hundred/Million.” Fans can download the song full of driving guitars and crushing drums at http://www.thewhigs.com/freedownload. On the road since the beginning of the year, with artists like Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and Band of Skulls, the band is excited to join The Hold Steady for a run of dates beginning July 2nd in Hayward, WI. In addition, the band has been invited to join the Kings of Leon for their Hyde Park (London, UK) headlining gig on June 30th. Other artists on the bill include The Black Keys, The Drums and The Features.

Both an accessible album and one that captures the band’s on-stage passion (something that has become synonymous with the band’s live show), IN THE DARK reveals another layer in the band’s songwriting and highlights what fans and critics have fallen in love with.

Along with Esquire, People Magazine, USA Today, Relix, Billboard, The Onion and many more, Rolling Stone  raves IN THE DARK  “is the sharpest distillation of [The Whigs'] neo-college rock yet” while Newsday  praises the album’s ability to “blend melodies from 70s Rolling Stones and 80s Replacements with 90s grunge underpinnings to build a whole new rock animal.” Vanity Fair goes on to say “there is enough unabashed pop laced with sweaty southern thrashing to whet any rock and roll fan’s appetite” and American Songwriter Magazine calls IN THE DARK ”Powerful, gritty and headbangingly sincere … a superb album, full of garage-rock funk with melodies to sing along to … IN THE DARK showcases a new turn for the band; while they have maintained their Southern garage rock roots, this time ’round their sound has more depth and thought.”

Neon Indian drops new single – Sleep Paralysist – via Green Label Sound

Neon Indian is Alan Palomo, the 21-year-old synth-wizard who first created waves as VEGA. After writing a batch of off-the-cuff recordings that weren’t quite right as VEGA songs, Palomo released them as Neon Indian and what started as a careless outlet for ideas too offbeat to fit the VEGA mold has since gone on to define a genre. His critically acclaimed début album Psychic Chasms, which was released in October 2009, has been featured in SPIN, Rolling Stone, Wall Street Journal and FADER among others. In Feb. 2010 he made his late night TV debut with a performance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. “Sleep Paralysist” was written by Neon Indian lead-man Alan Palomo; the track was recorded and produced in collaboration with Chris Taylor of Grizzly Bear in Brooklyn at Taylor’s elusive musical dungeon, Terrible Studios.  This is Neon Indian’s first new offering since the release of Psychic Chasms.
